Project Description

For the new St. Mary & St. Mercurius Coptic Youth Center on Academy Street in Belleville, New Jersey, NJ Site Work was brought in to clear the way for a four-story building. The site held five residential dwellings, a detached garage and three sheds that all had to come down—foundations included—on a tight residential street next to an active church.

Work began with soil erosion and sediment control around the entire site and the excavation and capping of each home’s utility services at the street, followed by sidewalk restoration. With utilities safely disconnected, our crews demolished the structures with excavators, using water spray to control dust, then separated and hauled debris off site and graded the cleared lot to a safe, buildable condition.

Demolition and site clearance were completed in April 2024, and site work for the new youth center is ongoing. As an experienced demolition contractor in New Jersey, NJ Site Work manages demolition and site work from utility disconnects through site clearance, keeping complex urban projects safe and organized from start to finish.
